First try engraving a PCB (= Printed
Cicuit Board)
Want to make a relais card=>
Solid state relais i have does not work
on parallel port => so built my own relais card
Engraving depth +/- 0,2mm
Next time i wil use bigger pads
This is
how i did it
i used Eagle PCB designer
http://www.cadsoftusa.com
Design the PCB
file => export=>image => BMP image
Started VisualToolBox advanced engraving
http://www.visualtoolbox.com/
imported the bitmap
traced the bitmap
scaled the trace (scale on distance)
made a tool radius offset on the trace
Print => trace printed to file(HPGL printer driver) (
i use a Roland
driver in WinXP)
Started CStep on the old PC
opened the HPGL file from the new PC(network connection)
and engraved it

Eagle is much better as i thought
=> it has an outline generator script for HPGL plotfile output
Design your board
then use => file => run
=> outline.ulp (Creates the outline
HPGL plotfile )
or use => file
=> run
=> mill-outline.ulp (more advanced
as outline.ulp)
Saw it at =>
http://cryolite.ath.cx/i/pcb-router
Verry good => treid it for a
couple of hours => and i like it
Next time i will use Eagle from http://www.cadsoftusa.com
this Eagle outline script works better for
me =. outlines_cstep.ulp
Second try (size
65x50mm)
Not a bad result for cheap trapezium spindles with bronze
nuts and NO mechanical
or software backlash compensation
Its
perfect!
Our (that's me,
myself and i) opinion:
Works great and fast for not to complex prototype PCB boards
No extra cost of photo/etching chemicals/equipment, overhead/laser
sheets
& cheaper base material (no photolayer)
Enviremently friendly (no photo and etching chemicals)
You should have some soldering experience (although i find it easy to
solder)
Should engrave some extra lines between the low 5&12vdc and high
230vac voltage part of the pcb

Should become a print for Router on/off switching by parallelport
Parallel port switches an ULN2803 wich turns on the 12VDC relay wich
switch the 230VAC for the routerdrill

High voltage part (230vac) is better isolated from rest of print
and i am an acehole => forgot to mirror the design

final print
2 LED's giving relais status
4pin dip is a bridge rectifier to make the control voltage connecting
fool proof

another engraved PCB
pic16F84 is driving 2 LED boards via i2c = 2 x 32outputs
using PCF8577CP
segments are sinked to ground using uln2803
Would like to add 2x i2c temperature ic's
Microchip TCN75 = 2 wire serial temperature sensor -55 to +125 degree
celcius (0,5 degree resolution)
So that the display can do time
and inside and outside temperature

test print for 74ls164 => serial_shift_in / parallel_out
